We're Hiring! Ateneo ROSES is looking for Electronic and Computer Engineers.
The Ateneo ROSES Laboratory proudly participated in the 1st Quantum Information, Science, and Technology Conference (QIST 2025) in Cebu, Philippines held last July 30 - August 1, 2025 at the JPark Hotel and Resort in Mactan, Cebu Philippines.
This event was organized by the Quantum Society of the Philippines, QESDA and the DOST-PCIEEDRC. The conference served as an excellent platform to bring together international scientists, VCs, DOST-PCIEEDRC representatives, representatives from ASEAN nations, representatives from European countries, and business representatives (Amazon, IBM, etc.) to discuss and learn the best practices to develop the Philippines approach toward Quantum Computing and Communication.
The Ateneo ROSES Lab team submitted a poster presentation showing the lab’s research efforts on Photonic Integrated Circuit (PIC) – an enabling and key technology for Quantum Computing and Communication. Ateneo ROSES Team was the first to locally-designed, fabricated (through NTC, Spain), tested and characterized the first PIC chip in the Philippines.
The poster gained traction in the conference as it was mentioned in one of the keynote talks by a prominent Filipino VC, Mr. Nardo Manaloto.
The poster was prepared by Ateneo ROSES Lab team, especially Mr. Kent Soria (Research Fellow) and Ramon Lapina (Research Assistant). Dr. Benjamin Dingel (Research Fellow, Physics Department) presented the said poster. Other Ateneo participants in the conference are Mr. PJ Blancas from the Physics Department, and Prof. Vergara from DISCS.
Dr. Benjamin Dingel also gave a talk on about Ateneo ROSES Lab quantum research efforts during the Session on “The State of Quantum Research in the Philippines”. He highlights some of the lab’s PIC research efforts on advancing low-cost and niche photonic solutions for Quantum Computing and Communication.
